Kindergarten: The Leadership Year

Graduation_1.jpg

The kindergarten class is offered to children aged 5 to 6 years old, providing them with the enriched intellectual and social environment that they require.

We challenge our kindergartners to take a very active role in their studies. They are expected to self-correct and modulate, so that an inner drive and purpose will emerge to guide them to their intelligence.

During this year, Kindergartners are are expected to exhibit the independence, critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership that they have been practicing during their previous years in our Early Childhood Montessori classroom, exercising them independently as they prepare to transition into an Elementary program.

Many of the lessons that were learned in the Pre-K classroom coalesce to broaden and deepen the child’s understanding of the world in which they live. They learn to love the learning process through further exploration in more advanced language, mathematics, science, geography, history, art and music. By the end of the term, most children will be able to read books. Their mathematics skill set will expand to include the practical and conceptual aspects of multiplication, division, and basic geometry.

As the eldest in the school, our kindergartners are also expected to lead their younger peers in fostering a supportive, creative community of learners.
